| ABODA | Arizona Band/Orchestra Directors Association |
| ALL - STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL |
Festival/Concert in the spring for those students that make Regionals, try out for State and make the All-State Band or Orchestra. |
| AMEA | Arizona Music Educators Association |
| AREA CONCERT FESTIVAL | Competition in the spring for Wind Ensemble, Orchestra and Concert/Symphonic Band usually held in Tucson. |
| AZ JAZZ FESTIVAL | Jazz competition held at Sabino during the Spring Semester |
| BAND/ORCHESTRA COUNCIL | Peer elected students who represent their respective organizations at school and musical activities. |
| CATS WIN |
Contract signed by all extra curricular students where students promise not to use drugs, alcohol or tobacco during their involvement in the respective program. There is a mandatory motivational seminar held just before school begins. Attendance is required by the student and parents. |
| DR. TIM WORKSHOP |
Leadership and Motivational workshop held in the fall, usually in Phoenix. Each student pays approximately $25.00 to attend. Group transportation is arranged by TUSD. |
| ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL | Competition in the fall for all Southern Arizona Orchestras, usually held in Tucson |
| ORCHESTRA MASTER CLASS | Orchestra class held during 4th period for a Fine Arts Credit |
| PERCUSSION MASTER CLASS | Drumline/Percussion class held during 5th period of the fall semester for a Fine Arts Credit |
| POPS CONCERT |
Spring Concert held in the Sabino courtyard. All second semester instrumental groups participate. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy music under the stars. SIMBA sets up a concession stand with beverages, snacks and desserts. |
| SABINO INDOOR CLASSIC |
Winter Guard and Drumline Spring competition hosted by Sabino High School. Twenty-one plus ensembles participate by competing in different divisions. SIMBA provides a concession stand for all attendees. This is one of our major fundraisers of the year. |
| SECTIONALS |
Each section (clarinets, flutes, trumpets, tenors, snares, etc) practice in small groups during the Marching Band and Winter Guard/Drumline seasons. These practices are held at the discretion of the section leader. |
| STATE CONCERT BAND /ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL |
Fall competition, usually held in the Phoenix area, for all Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Concert/Symphonic Bands |
| SYMPHONIC/CONCERT BAND |
A Large Band class held during 5th period during the Spring Semester for a Fine Arts Credit. Those participating in Winter Drumline are required to participate and register for this class. |
| TPYO SHOWCASE | TPYO "Tucson Youth Philharmonic Orchestra" |
| UNIFORM FITTING | Required by orchestra marching band
and guard participants. Students are introduced to the uniform they will
be required to wear and be responsible for during their musical participation.
Allow at least 45 minutes for the fitting to be performed. |
| WGAZ |
Winter Guard Arizona (WGAZ) is an organization responsible for Winter Guard and Drumline competitions in Arizona from February through April of each year. The competitions are held on Friday or Saturday's throughout the State. |
| WGI |
Winter Guard International (WGI) is an organization responsible for Winter Guard and Drumline competitions across the country. Competitions are held throughout the year. Sabino participates in one or two Region competitions each year. Regional competitions held closest to Sabino are in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Southern California during the spring semester. Nationals are held in April in different locations around the country. |
| WIND ENSEMBLE | A small group of students who try out for spots in this elite performance group. The class is held during 1st period during the Spring Semester for a Fine Arts Credit. |
